Dear Alex,

God wants you to be happy! That is why he sent you to Earth. He wants you to enjoy your time while you are there. You should rejoice! There are so many things to be grateful for. God loves it when you praise him and the help that he gives you.

Lift up your head! If you look around you, you can always find something to be happy about. Remember how great your Lord Jesus Christ is. He has done so much for you. This is a miracle to be grateful for. Delight in all things good that come from God. Let you heart rejoice. This feels like your heart is flying and nothing can stop you. When you feel this way, you are getting closer to God. He wants this for you!

Think of all the wonderful promises or covenants that you can make with God. He wants you to commit to keeping his rules, so he can give you blessings.

Sometimes it can be hard to be this happy because of all the hard things the world has to offer. God knows your life isn't easy, but he expects you to live through it anyway. He wants you to try your best  to deal with your struggles. It is healthy to want an better life. That is what God has in store for you after this life. If you keep trying or enduring, you will gain all of the rewards he has for you.

Remember that you are nothing compared to God. It is only because of his love and mercy that you have your amazing potential. If you remember this humility you are taking the first steps to living out God's plan of happiness for you.

Sometimes it is hard to get along with my family. Why does God put us in families? Are they important?

Dear Alex,

Families are very important to God. The family is the social unit that God uses as part of his eternal plan for you. The best time and place to learn about God is with your family. They can offer you the support you need to make it successfully through this life. The Gospel of Jesus Christ can be best lived if you do it as a family.

God put you in a family because he knew that would be best for you. Being in a family on earth helps you understand what your spiritual family is like. God is your spiritual father and everyone else on earth are your spiritual siblings. Your relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ can be easily likened to your relationship with your parents, brothers, sisters, and children.

I understand that sometimes it can be hard to get along with your family. Try to remember that you love them even when you don't like them. Show them you love them first and they will follow suit.

One of the most special blessings we can receive from out heavenly Father is to have eternal life with our families. It is no mistake that this blessing is meant to be shared with the people you spent the most time with while on earth. If you live the commandments together you can have this blessing.

How do I know if God can hear my prayers? Will I get any answers?

Dear Alex,

You will receive answers to your prayers! I promise. God wants you to pray not only because he wants to hear from you but because he wants to communicate with you. Prayer is just like communicating with someone on Earth. It's similar to being able to pick up a phone and call your Heavenly Father. Isn't that wonderful!

Usually you will receive answers in the form of promptings from the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead and the only member without a body. He does not have a body like Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ so that he can reside with our own Spirits. His role is to guide you on earth while you are away from your Heavenly Father.

Answers from the Spirit will usually feel like your own feelings and sound like your own thoughts. You can know that an answer is from God if it is something that will bring about good. God would never tell you to do anything even remotely wrong.

Everyone feels the Spirit differently but a lot of people describe it as a warm feeling in their chest or simply general happiness. You may feel silly praying at first, but I promise you will feel the assurance that you are doing something right, and then you'll be fine.

Pray! Every prayer is beautiful to God.

How do I know that God is real? I do not feel like I have felt his presence in my life. I feel very alone.

Dear Alex,

I am sorry that you feel this way! There is really no need. All you need to do is look around you and you will know that God exists. His proof is in the flowers and the animals and everything else he made for you. Everything that is beautiful and good comes from him.

God is your Heavenly Father. And you are one of his children. In fact everyone that lives on earth and has ever lived there are his spiritual children. He loves all of you very much. He wants the best for you.

If you ever feel lonely or feel like He is very far away you only need to pray. Prayer is the way you can communicate with your Heavenly Father. He wants to hear from you. It is really quite simple. Start by addressing him as your Heavenly Father. Then tell Him anything you want. Your worries, things you are grateful for, blessings you want. Anything. Remember to end in the name of Jesus Christ.

Please pray! I promise it will help. He doesn't want you to feel lonely.
